Sidetrip Adventures- Homeschooling Extras
We all need breaks to relieve stress, recharge or just enjoy life. Homeschooling extras are the activities that bring joy back into life! Your adventure may need some detours every so often. Here's some ideas for homeschooling extras to enhance your adventure!
Making time for Special Memory-makers
Roasting marshmallows- if it's too cold to do it outside, how about roasting mini marshmallows over a candle or two?!Setting up a tent to read in...a pup-tent works great in the living room or family room! If you don't have a pup-tent....make your own out of blankets or sheets! The kids love it!

Express Yourselves!
Take time to be creative and show some self-expression!Music is a great way! How about recording yourselves singing silly songs? Read a story, record it and mail it to grandma. Listen to your favorite music and dance around. Sometimes when we adults have fun with it the kids do too!
Be Dramatic!
Have a puppet show! The three little pigs are a great start!Practice giving speeches, reciting poetry, having debates....all in the spirit of fun and learning! Have "tea" with the queen or the president or another historical figure of your choice...you'll be surprised what you learn! (Manners, history, how to have tea!)
Get Dirty!
Plant a garden! A simple flower pot with a single seed counts.Get into a project....paper mache, plaster of paris, decopage. You'll never forget it and neither will they!
Reach out to someone else!
Bake cookies...take them to someone and brighten their day! You'll be surprised how it helps your own sunshine!Know of someone who is ill? Make them some soup, a card, and drop it off.
