YOUR Learning Style
A learning style is defined by how we process input. We each learn by taking in information through our senses: sight, sound, smell, taste, touch and even our muscle movement(kinesthetic). The differences come in how each of us uses those senses, where we store the information in our brains, and how we access or retrieve the information.
There is so much that science is finding out as to how the brain works in learning.
Each of us uses all of the senses to enter input into our computer. There are three general types of learning styles with sub-types developing from them. First you have the Eyesight oriented learner who would rather read or watch new information. The Hearing referenced want to hear the instruction, story or assignment explained. Those who prefer to exercise their touch-muscle sense are those who want to be busy on it right away, learning from doing.

Some break these down further into specific types of learners. For instance, Type A: Active and reflective learners: They learn best by doing something active with the new information gained. They apply it or explain it to others. Reflective learners prefer to think about what they have learned, synthesizing it for awhile. Type B: Sensing and intuitive learners: These tend to like the dates, numbers, and lists of facts. Intuitive learners often want to know alternative possibilities and how it all relates. This type of learner does well in the school setting with a lecture/study/test method. This by the way fits only approximately twenty percent of learners. Type C: Visual and verbal learners: Visual learners remember better what they see whether that be pictures, print, demonstrations, movies, etc. Verbal learners get more out of the lesson when it is written or verbally explained. Type D: Sequential and global learners: Sequential learners like to gain information in an orderly fashion such as chronological, size, or steps to an end. Global learners take information randomly in through the senses.
